Our glandulars are lyophilized, or freeze-dried, which means the material is immediately frozen, then subjected to a high vacuum that vaporizes moisture directly from the solid state. This sophisticated and sensitive technique respects the delicate nature of the material, and except for the water content, leaves in everything that naturally occurs in glandular tissue, including any fat content. Each lot of our glandular materials is subject to stringent microbial, heavy metal, and contaminant testing.

General about the use of Adrenal Cortex
Adrenal cortex glandular supplements, derived from pig or cow adrenal glands, are rich in hormones like cortisol, aldosterone, and DHEA, which manage stress, blood pressure, and metabolism. Taking these supplements can promote adrenal health, potentially enhancing stress resilience and mitigating symptoms of adrenal fatigue or insufficiency like lethargy, weakness, low blood pressure, and salt cravings. They might also possess immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties beneficial for autoimmune or inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, or asthma. Furthermore, they could help regulate metabolism and weight by managing blood sugar levels, lipid metabolism, and appetite.

Adrenal Cortex function in the body

  • Produces the glucocorticoids cortisol and cortisone which modulates the immune system and regulates blood sugar metabolism as well as energy production
  • Produces mineralocorticoids such as aldosterone and corticosterone, key regulators of mineral and water balance Produces a minor amount of sex hormones such as progestins, androgens and estrogens
  • Does not contain catecholamines present in the adrenal medulla

Background
Throughout history, humans have prized organ meats for their health benefits and their nutrient density. These parts of the animal, also known as offal, provide essential nutrients that are absent or less abundant in muscle meats alone. Such a tradition was not only prevalent in ancient and indigenous cultures worldwide but was also widely acknowledged for its life-sustaining properties.

Unfortunately, the past 150 years have seen a significant decline in the consumption of organ meats in Western culture, particularly among middle and upper-class American households. This change is largely attributable to the rise of factory farming during the Industrial Revolution in the mid-19th century. The increasing availability and affordability of domesticated animal meat led to a shift in dietary preferences, with organ meat falling out of favor as muscle meats became more prevalent.

This change, however, may have had detrimental effects on our health. Besides their high nutrient density, organ meats and tissues are theorized to offer cellular information that could potentially alter gene expression. This alteration can support organ homeostasis and repair through mechanisms like microRNAs or exosomes. This theory is supported by the long-standing use of organ extracts in medical treatments, such as thyroid glandular in managing hypothyroidism.

By the early 20th century, the pharmaceutical industry, aiming to standardize doses and isolate active constituents, started producing synthetic versions of these organ extracts. However, many patients and clinicians report that synthetic and isolated constituent products don't always have the same efficacy as whole organ extracts. The field's leading figures hypothesize that other synergistic constituents found in the whole organ contribute to a greater healing effect compared to their synthetic, isolated counterparts.

At ARG, we recognize the value of this historical wisdom and are committed to perpetuating the tradition of providing whole organ and glandular extracts. We believe it's essential for the animals used for these extracts to be raised humanely and healthily. As a result, we strictly source our ingredients from animals that have been pastured and raised under the most rigorous farming practices.
