The role of a cell membrane is essentially to perform three vital tasks. It protects the complex structures and processes within the cell against disturbances (protective function), it enables electrochemical communication with other cells (communication function) and it regulates the metabolism of the organism (transport function). Natural lipids and oils are vital for the body. Lipid deficiency can be triggered by under or over-eating as well as by inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. Polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, are essential for our body and should be supplied through food or natural supplements.
